HISTORY

Ok, so here's the history and general info on why we decided to start this. When was the last time that you dealt with a pleasant customer? A customer that was not interested in "what's in it for him" or "what can I get for free"? Well, I can answer that for you, probably rarely. In the ANY business, you are opening yourself up to the selfish and the self-centered. People whom only care about themselves, and don't care whom they screw over, so they get the better deal.

It's sad that in our world today, there are people who take advantage of something as sacred as a business. There was a rule that I believed in once, "the customer is always right". These days, lets face it, the customer is not always right, although they think they are.

I've worked in retail, fast food, and had my own business for a short time. In working for others, or myself I've found that people don't care who you are, don't care who's behind them in line, they only want what they think is theirs. In fast food, customers think that even though lets say, a burger place, PRE-cooks something, so all they have to do is slap the proper toppings on it and WHAM, there you go, they think that someone is going to slay a cow, slaughter it, grind up the meat, cook it to perfection, and use toppings picked straight from the garden out back, for them. Not only that, but within one minuet. Folks, fast food means that you get it fast, this doesn't mean that someones mom is back there packin' up a fresh patty just for you! It means that if you're in a damn hurry, you can order, pay, and get your food usually within 3 minuets.

There was a woman that would ask for a "fresh" burger every time. One day, she forgot that she had her name tag on from her work, which just so-happened to be another burger place. I went in to get a burger the next night, and sure enough there she was. I made my order, and I said, "please make sure it's fresh." She looked at me as if I had called her mother a whore. She actually had the audacity to say, "it's always fresh". So I said, "actually, you mean its fresh from the microwave" as I pointed to the guy in back pulling a tray of burgers from the commercial microwave. "Well, we 'stage' our burgers here". I said "well, the whole 'make sure it's fresh' thing isn't to funny when someone says it to you, now is it?" It took her this long to figure out who I was. She never came back, then again, I haven't worked in fast food since 1990.

I'm straying here. Let's get back to the topic. There wasn't a day that went by that some customer was ticked off for some reason, and takes it out on us. I'm not just talking about the people that seem to always get the "wrong pizza" so they can have a free one, no, those people are probably poor, and can't feed the whole family, so instead of improving their employment situation, they let the pizza place take up the slack. That's crass, and I hope the cook spits on the pizza.

In the city I live in, about a couple of years ago, a delivery driver kept getting stiffed (did not get a tip), by the same customer. Being as he worked for a pizza place that the drivers ONLY get paid tips, we was sick of working for "free" for this customer. The driver, the next time they ordered a pizza, pulled to the side of the road, masturbated, and ejaculated all over the pizza. He called the customer at about 11pm that night and told him what he did. The delivery driver went to jail, however, I bet that customer now tips and understands that you can't be an asshole to the person who prepares your food. Think about it. Same thing goes for ANY fast food restaurant. Customer wants his food quickly, OR he wants to be compensated. I say, "I'm sorry sir that we had to make YOUR food special (usually because they want extra this, or none of that, which causes a problem!). "If you don't like what we're doing for you, please take your business down the road, tell all your friends, if they're half the ass you are, we don't want them here! It'll take a lot more people than you, your family, and your 2 friends, to put us out of business!" I'd like to tell this guy to go to a tire store and say "I'll take that tire, but, all I need is the tread. Hold the tire wall, hold the air, hold the wheel, all I need is the tread." That guy would find the person behind the counters' foot up his ass quickly.

In the past I worked for a major chain of stores that sold electronics nation-wide. I felt the usual company pride for a short time, until after about 2 months, I finally understood that the merchandise they sell, is cheap, shotty, and even though it's brand new and in the box, is probably broken in the first place. People everyday would buy things, ask me to set them up, put them together, read THEM the manual, teach them how to use it, and then would ask me to take it to the car for them. That's the kind of crap people go through all the time. As soon as they say, "can you show me how..." I'd say "sure, let's get the manual out, and YOU turn to page one, and you tell me what to do." Some of them played along and didn't realize they were learning how to do whatever it was. Some got pissed off and bitch because I wouldn't perform tricks for them. These are the people that I would usually tell to go to another store because we're out of whatever they want. Or if they actually bought whatever, after they left, I'd write down their name, address, phone #, and anything else that would make me feel better. Remember that revenge is best served after they've forgotten about you.

Information for the abused, don't take any crap from people, they are badly in need of discipline, and you could be the person to give them a correcting.

Information for the abusers, don't forget, we're the people that you hand your credit cards to, your social security cards, drivers' licenses, anything that we could use to easily find out where you live, where you work, etc. Keep this in mind, you may feel like you are "the man" today, but a year or two when suddenly you're getting embarrassing things in the mail, your car is messed up, your dog is sick, or your credit is screwed up, you need to behave, you got what you deserve, and you better shape up, or it's only going to get worse. Remember, that may not really be extra mayo on your burger.
